HOW IT STARTED
Hi there, welcome to Stay To Wander. My name is Dale, and I’m a full-time traveler who has visited more than 55 countries around the globe.
I started Stay To Wander because I wanted to create a resource to help travelers like you find the perfect place to stay on your next trip.
In order to provide you with the best recommendations possible, I only write about destinations I’ve personally traveled to. You’ll always get my firsthand experience and insights from my travel guides.
On Stay To Wander, you’ll find curated recommendations for where to stay in destinations around the world.
Although I haven’t stayed at every single accommodation I recommend, I do extensive research to ensure the quality of my recommendations, and I always highlight places that I’ve stayed at myself when I can.
My goal is to use my experience to help you plan your dream trip, and that starts with finding the perfect place to stay on your next adventure.
More About Me
Best hotel you’ve stayed at?
The best hotel I’ve stayed at is The St. Regis Venice in Venice, Italy. A truly unique and spectacular place to stay right on the Grand Canal.
Favorite cities in the world?
I’m a huge city person. Since I’m from New York, it’s my favorite city in the world, but I also love Paris, Venice, Seville, and Buenos Aires.
Craziest travel experience?
Taking an overnight bus in Peru that got stopped by a blockade of protestors, and having to get out and walk for 1.5 hours in the pouring rain with all my luggage in the middle of the night to get past it.
Hobbies outside of traveling?
Reading and occasionally studying Spanish and French. But traveling is definitely my biggest hobby and my favorite thing to do!
Favorite countries you’ve traveled to?
It’s impossible to choose but some of the most fun and beautiful countries I’ve traveled to are Croatia, Guatemala, Ecuador, and Peru.
What’s on your travel bucket list?
Some of my biggest bucket list destinations are Uzbekistan, French Polynesia, Mauritius, Japan, and the Azores. I also want to experience Carnival in Venice and Day of the Dead in Oaxaca some day.
What’s your travel style?
I love luxury travel, but I’m just as comfortable kicking it in a private room at a hostel or a budget-friendly hotel too. I prioritize comfort when I’m traveling, but I’m always in search of the best deals.
Is this your full-time job?
Stay To Wander is one of several websites I run, in addition to being a freelance travel writer. This is my full-time job now, but in a former life I spent several years working as a cybersecurity consultant.
